I was a bit delayed with this. We had a huge, but thankfully brief thunderstorm break out and it was pretty nasty there for the last half hour.
Thank you all for your submissions in the Poetry Challenge! We had a tie again, between Maggie and Diane this time with 3 votes each for their poems. Here they are!
Van Gogh Sneeze
When Van Gogh’s sneeze upon the art world burst,
it was as if the doors to Castle Hearst
swung open wide to us. His “Starry Night”
became for me a way to fight the blight
of epilepsy. Yes, that darkened town
reminded me of seizured brain. When down,
I cannot see the sun or moon or star.
They, nonetheless, shine on me from afar.
GARDEN OF EDEN
A place, a home God gave to them
Everything they’d ever need
Beauty beyond the richest gem
God, gave to them a lifelong deed.
To live, and love this garden delight
And to live with ne’er a need
With never concern or ever fright.
One day however, Satan came
And whispered in Eve’s ear
He mentioned their God’s name
As though He was not near.
Eve listened as the devil did speak
Not listening to her heart
For if she had but thought to seek
They would not have had to part.
For Adam and Eve did not obey
The God who gave them all
The Garden of Eden, that dreadful day
Was the beginning of man’s dark fall.
Coming up next, the winner of the Name That Abstract #11 and new poetry challenge based on that, and then as usual I will have a new Name That Abstract #12 for you. Thanks again for your participation in these!
