An Angel

An Angel
by Anne Sikes

I had a dog, his name was Prince

A better dog, I’ve not had since

Though you may doubt, I know it’s so

An angel, not a dog, you know?

~~~
An angel, dear Prince surely was
If angel is as angel does.
He’d comfort me when I was low
An angel, not a dog, you know?
~~~

Since Prince left, many years have passed

But mem’ries of him linger fast

He loved me well as I did grow

An angel, not a dog, you know?
