Clogged drain

Yuck!  Our garbage disposal isn’t working, so the drain in the kitchen sink is clogged.  It just runs slowly, but when you run the dishwasher, as I’m doing right now, all the yucky stuff backs up in the sink.  (That image above is not our kitchen sink, by the way.  It’s from an Orange County Rooter and Plumbing site.)

I got to thinking though, about a different kind of clogged drains…as in our minds.  We dump all sorts of things into them, from various news stories, reality television, images on the internet or in magazines, or even thoughts that we hold on of bitterness or anger toward people…or sometimes insecurites about ourselves that come from things others have said at times.  Those things can block our minds and our hearts I think, so that the living water that Christ is, can’t flow through us as it should.  We’re stuck with all that gunk stopping us up, preventing us from being of any use at times.

Maybe a little drain cleaner would be good…as in the Word of God.  A daily dose will help to keep that drain clean and the water flowing freely.

(That said, I think the problem with my kitchen sink will require a call to the service department. 🙂 )

Have a great day!

Love and blessings,

Anne

HAHA.. LOVE this post! You’re right, we get clogged, thank goodness for blogs! It helps us to drain out the yucky and make room for the fresh. 😀

I kind of feel like this today. So much going on. Nothing seems to be coming out right. I think I’ll take a moment and read the word of God. Sandy

That’s so funny because we were talking about an analogy just like this at Life Group Tues nite…:)

🙂 Cool! Yeah…that’s how my mind works a lot of the time. Get a clogged drain and all of a sudden I’m applying it to life lessons. 🙂 It’s true though…we clog ourselves up with all kinds of images and thoughts and all, and it can hinder us. It does me, for sure! But I do so much better when I’m staying in the Word regularly…and prayer too.
