From Darkness to Dawn

by Anne Sikes

I know God has a purpose

No worries, right?

Still, it’s always a sad thing

When out goes love’s light.

Love’s never wrong, some say

I believe that too.

So what, then, happened

To me and you?

I know a lot more

Than you think I know

The why, and how

And where did it go?

I will get through this

My faith is strong

And my will is within me

To carry on.

The sadness comes

Through laughter and pain

The sun will shine

Inside, there’s rain.

To lose the hopes

The dreams I had

I thought you shared

It’s just so sad

I pray for you

Every day

No more anger

It’s gone away.

Forgive you?  I have.

Though you didn’t ask.

Nor have you ever

Removed the mask.

You may never.

Still I will go on.

My heart will keep beating.

From darkness to dawn.

  1. This is beautiful! The walk of a Christian is walking with and in Christ and we are called to love those who persecute and hate us. Thankful for His Holy Spirit to empower us as we walk in obedience. Thank you Anne!

Thank you! For reading as well. 🙂 As you said, Matt. 5:16. 🙂 I hope the light shines through the dark times of my life still.

      Blessings,
      Anne
